1. Disable Autorun on All drives :

Most of viruses are spread through PEN/USB Drives. So one should be aware of “Autorun” option. Autorun is mainly used as an Autorun facility for removable disks like CD/DVD ROMS/PEN/USB Drives. Because of a Fie name “Autorun.inf” it runs automatically. This file contains the information to run the executable or exe files. We should disable this feature , which is one way to deal with the USB Drive virus.

To disable this feature :

• Go to Start > Run or press “windows key” + r
• Type “gpedit.msc”  it will open the Group Policy.
• Inside “Use Configuration” submenu, Browse to Administrative Templates > System
• Double Click on “Turn Off Autoplay” for the right side Settings
• Select Enable and in the dropdown box select All Drives and click OK.

2. You may Delete Any “Autorun.inf” files

From 1 tip, you will only stop virus from spreading itself.But there could be a chance that your drive already have “Autorun.inf” file from previous infecion. This file is basicaly present as in readonly, hidden mode, so you can not see it directly on your local drives. But you can use software like WINRAR or “CuteFTP” to see the content of USB drive and if you find the file in the drive, you need to delete it. For your knowledge Autorun.inf file is basically a text file. Right click on the “Autorun.inf” file to check the path of the exe it must be pointing to and delete that exe from there.

3. Install or update latest Virus definition. Scan you Drive before opening it
4. You may kill unknown process running on the backgroud. Either press ctrl + alt + del for task manager>process.Kill that unsure process. For the same thing you may download a small tool Task Killer. It’s a handy tool which is used to kill process.

5. Last but not least, try to open your Drive from the address bar rather on drive click(right or left any)
